Teeth Whitening
There are numerous teeth whitening options on the market
nowadays. The three systems they specialise in are Philips Zoom!, Britesmile, and teeth whitening trays.
The Philips Zoom! System
is the number one selling teeth whitening treatment in the U.S and is used on
the television show Extreme Makeover. It can lighten the teeth up to ten shades,
and this is
achieved by using a light activated whitening gel to lighten the enamel
and dentine.
Britesmile was developed by a former NASA
scientist. It is fast
and simple, and treatment can usually be completed within an hour. The procedure uses
a combination of hydrogen peroxide gel and a specially designed lamp that
speeds up the treatment time. Many models are favouring this treatment.
Teeth whitening trays are a more traditional teeth whitening
option. The patient uses thin teeth trays containing a special whitening gel.
These trays are worn for around four
hours every day for at least two weeks.
Dental Implants
If you have any missing teeth, dental implants can be an
excellent solution for replacing them. A titanium post is planted into the jaw bone, usually under local or general
anaesthetic, and this acts as the tooth’s root would have done. Once the jaw
has healed, and the bone has infused with
the implant, which usually takes three months, then the replacement bridge,
crown or denture can be fixed onto the implant.
One of the major advantages of a dental implant is that it is
as strong as natural teeth and roots. It means you don’t have to remove dentures
for example to clean them. The dental implants look and feel like your natural teeth. They can also improve your
speech and be easier for eating.
